Ruined Italian Monastery

Across Europe, monasteries and churches were an important part of the local community providing a place for education and religious service, as well as being a stout building in times of trouble. In World War Two they could provide the cornerstone of a defence with snipers or observers hiding in the bell tower to cause trouble for any attacker.
