Soviet Starter Force: BMP Rifle Battalion

Even buttoned up inside his BMP-2, the ear-splitting screech of the vehicles anti-tank missile launching from just overhead was enough to make Captain Malakov wince. His gunner tracked the ATGM until it impacted on the target, causing a huge bloom of flame, smoke and debris on the side of the M1 Abrams turret. When the wind rapidly blew the cloud away, the barrel of the enemy tank was already rotating towards them. Yet again, the anti-tank missile had failed to destroy an enemy tank.

"Driver reverse! Full speed!" he yelled and grabbed on to the cupola handles in anticipation of the sudden acceleration. It was all too easy to get brained inside these armoured transports if you aren't careful. Behind him the squad of infantry in the troop compartment began cursing and yelling as they were tossed around when the BMP accelerated backwards down the slope they had been resting on. With a hard jerk they came to an abrupt halt. "Out! Out! The enemy will be coming over the crest!" he yelled, banging his fist on the bulkhead. He heard the soldiers scrambling out, and watched through the visors as they dispersed amongst the trees. 

With a high pitched whine and a burst of debris thrashing from its tracks, the Abrams tank crested the slope above and crashed down, turret rotating rapidly. Multiple RPG-7 launches streamed towards it with one det-onating in its suspension. A track flapped wildly and unravelled as the hull pivoted around the sudden loss of traction. Another RPG round slammed into the exposed engine inlet and flames shot up from the rear hull. Hatches flopped open with several crew members bailing out only to be confronted with levelled muzzles from the surrounding infantry. They looked shocked and despondent, unresisting as they were relieved of cigarettes and watches. Clouds of smoke rapidly appeared, as the degenerate Western tobacco was rapidly consumed. 

"Talos! Take them back to battalion! The rest of you, get back on board and help re-load the launcher." He muttered to himself, "Maybe next time it'll actually work..."
