Daimler Armoured Car Troop

While the cavalry of the armoured car regiments serves as the eyes and ears of the armoured divisions, the infantry's own recce regiments serve them in the same role. Although there is a standard organisation of equal numbers of Daimler armoured cars and Dingo scout cars, there are many variations.

At one extreme, the 15th (Scottish) and 5th Divisions have both dropped their Dingo scout cars as more Daimler armoured cars become available. At the other end of the spectrum, the 52nd (Lowland) Division was initially equipped for mountain warfare, so only had Dingo scout cars for its first few months in combat.
